Check out the DFW VMUG UserCon - this is a FREE event on 10/10 put on by the DFW VMware User Group (or VMUG). Whether you are a VMware shop or not, it's still a great event to attend with various vendors you might not see at Spiceworld. In addition to this, there are networking opportunities with people who are big in the virtualization space. Don't expect every session to be just about VMware stuff either. Expect to hear about things like containers, DevOps, and career development.
The keynote will be given by Scott Lowe. And if you were someone who read the Mastering vSphere book series on vSphere version 5 or earlier, he's the one who wrote them....
